Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. Today I’m going to talk to ya’ll about book to movie adaptations. It’s not going to be in the typical sense though. I’m going to let you guys in on a secret… [I haven’t really read all the books in the world.] Here are some books I really want to read that I’ve already seen the movie for.

1. American Sniper by Chris Kyle
I watched this with my roommates over Fall Break. It was incredibly powerful, and one of my roommates said the book was even more intense. She said Kyle seemed kind of like an asshole, but you understand so much about what really happened out there when you read from his perspective.

2. Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen
I’ve wanted to read this ever since I saw it on the shelves in Barnes and Noble. I saw the movie back in high school, but I didn’t know it was a book until this year. It’s about a mental hospital in the 1960s and what is done to survive. If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s a must. Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie perform astoundingly.

3. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey
One of my friends in high school did a research project on books and their movie counterparts. One of those books was “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” This is another book about mental hospitals, but the book is from a really interesting perspective that I would love to dive into.

4. Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris
Another movie that I didn’t know was a book! I watched “Silence of the Lambs” the summer after my freshman year of college. Such a great movie, I can’t wait to read the book.

5. Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King
“Shawshank Redemption” is about a man who goes to jail under false allegations. It’s all about his discovery of himself in the slammer. I’m not sure why, but that really appeals to my in the written word.

6. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
I am a walking shame to all book-lovers out there because I have yet to read “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.” BUT I have seen it. It was actually a field trip for my fifth grade class. I promise to read this classic before the end of my days.

7. The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
I’ve been meaning to read this since I saw the movie back in middle school. It’s an interesting tale of old european history that I would love to read more about.

8. The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
This is one of my best friends favorite books. He’s probably read it ten times already, and I haven’t even read it once. If you don’t know, it’s about a girl who gets an entry level job at a fashion — that she isn’t interested in at all. But she learns to love it despite her horrendous boss. I feel this is applicable to my soon-to-be life since I will be looking into internships and jobs soon. [Please don’t remind me!]

9. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
I didn’t even know this was a book until I was writing this post. I watched this movie while at a sleepover in high school and while all my other friends fell asleep, I stayed up crying my eyes out. I’m a sucker for Nicholas Sparks books, so this would be a perfect guilty pleasure read.

10. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
I worked as tech on this play in high school and reading it has always been a goal. As I’ve mentioned before, I love historical fiction. “Les Miserables” is the perfect book for me to tackle next summer.
