Everday Drug Store Makeup

Beauty, Lifestyle / Thursday, November 16th, 2017

I love doing my makeup everyday. I know a lot of people only like to spend the time getting ready on special occasions or only pop on some mascara before running out the door, but I love putting on a full-face. It’s like putting on a cute outfit — it makes me feel like my best self and I wouldn’t know a better way to start my day than at my desk with my mirror and eyeshadow brush in hand. Below are my favorite everyday makeup products from the drugstore. As a preface, I enjoy using cruelty-free products (that’s why you’ll see a lot of NYX and some Essence), so if you have any recommendations as replacements for my current, non-cruelty-free options, let me know in the comments below.

nyx primer

Primer — NYX Born to Glow
This NYX illuminating primer is one of the best I have found at the drugstore — I feel like drugstore primers are a lot harder to find than high end primers? I discovered this product while watching YouTube one day (a common trend in my makeup purchases), and I fell in love once I tried it. It’s a milky, white consistency, but it blends out to nothing on the skin. It adds a nice sheen, but it doesn’t make my skin feel greasy or clog my pores. I also love that it comes in a squeeze tube because I can make sure to use every last drop of product.

maybelline foundation and nyx concealer

Foundation — Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless
Lately, I’ve been loving the way the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless foundation has been making my skin look. I wear the shade 222, True Beige, and while it’s a little dark for my skin right now, it doesn’t make me look cakey or overdone. It’s on my face from about 5:45 in the morning until maybe 8 or 9 o’clock at night, and it looks perfect all day long. I hate fixing my makeup throughout the day, so finding a foundation that actually lasts is pretty remarkable.

Concealer — NYX HD Photogenic Concealer
Another favorite from NYX is its HD Photogenic Concealer. It’s one of the best I have ever tried from the drugstore, and also one of the cheapest. I like using a lighter shade to conceal my dark circles and spots and I enjoy that this has a bit of a matte finish. It doesn’t crease on me, and it looks very natural. I use shade 04, Beige.

rimmel matte powder

Powder — Rimmel Stay Matte
As you can tell, I use this powder day-in and day-out to set my liquid products. I hate looking shiny, I really don’t even like a natural glow, so this powder has become my best friend ever since Laura Lee introduced me to it. I use the shade 005, Silky Beige, and it’s perfect for initially setting my makeup, as well as touching up shiny spots throughout the day.

nyx bronzer

Bronzer — NYX Matte Bronzer
I’m pasty pale, and I’m originally from Florida, so this is kind of a sore subject for me. I didn’t dabble into the bronzer life until late last year, but I don’t know what I would do without my NYX Matte Bronzer (in shade Medium). It fixes a pale foundation, covers up spots, and makes me feel like I just left Jamaica. The product is extremely pigmented, incredibly smooth, and easy to blend out on the skin.

wet n wild blush

Blush — Wet N Wild Color Icon Blush
“Mellow Wine” is almost an exact dupe for the Tarte Amazonian 12-Hour Clay Blush in “Seduce” for a fraction of the price. I love a deeper blush shade for my skin tone (especially in the fall), and “Mellow Wine” completes my look perfectly.

maybelline highlighter

Highlight — Maybelline Master Chrome
To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of this when I first used it, but I absolutely love it now. Everyone on YouTube was raving about it, and I just didn’t get it. But after a couple of uses, I completely understand. It’s incredibly creamy, blends like a dream, and is the best gold highlighter I’ve seen in the drugstore. It adds the perfect hint of glow to my skin, and works perfectly with the bronzer/blush combo as well. It’s in the shade Molten Gold.

loreal eye brow pencil

Brows — L’Oréal Brow Stylist Definer
I didn’t pluck my eyebrows regularly until I graduated college. I just didn’t see the need — my eyebrows weren’t super bushy nor were they super sparse, so I just kind of let them do their thing. That was until I realized how this final step can really pull a look together. I still leave my brows relatively natural, but I basically fill in the blank spaces with this pencil to make them a bit darker and a bit fuller. I brush through them with the spoolie, and I’m done. This L’Oréal pencil is perfect for me because it’s easy to fill in my brows naturally, and it stays in place all day. I use the shade Dark Brunette.

i love stage eye shadow base

Eye Primer — Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base
I used to use the Urban Decay eye primer everyday (eyeshadow is the one step I never skip in my makeup routine, don’t ask why) until RachhLoves introduced me to this cheaper alternative. This Essence eye primer works just as well and really locks the shadows into place. For only $3, I say it’s worth it.

perfect filter eyeshadow palette

Eyeshadow — NYX Perfect Filter Palette
The Perfect Filter Golden Hour NYX palette is great for a neutral, yet golden look. I’m a big fan of brown on my eyes (probably because I’m boring and scared of color), so when I saw this drugstore, cruelty-free alternative of a well-created palette, I knew I had to have it. The colors are pigmented and blend extremely well. They stay on my eyes all day, and leave a beautiful look that accents my hazel eyes perfectly.

maybelline eyeliner

Eyeliner — Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil
I have been using this eyeliner for YEARS to tightline and line my waterline. It is the creamiest pencil liner I have found in the drugstore, and it lasts all day.. It’s also the blackest gel pencil liner I have ever tried in the shade Sleek Onyx.

loreal mascara

Mascara — L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise
Everyone, and I mean everyone, has been raving about the L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara ever since it came out this summer. I was a dope and bought it in the shade Black/Brown instead of black, but I still love it. It volumizes, lengthens, and doesn’t clump or flake all day. As you can tell, my tube is very well loved.

That’s it. Those are the products I put on my face (almost) every day. Let me know some of your favorite drugstore  products in the comments below.

Happy glamming,
Kimberly
