July TBR List

Books, Recommendations, TBRs / Tuesday, June 26th, 2018

It’s that time of the month again! Since I started creating to-be-read lists, I have been reading more and more. Sometimes I sway from the list, but all-in-all, my reading has never been any better. I’ve read more in the last two months that I did January through March. That being said, I did forgo some of the books on my May and June list, so I’m keeping my July list short in hopes that I can get to those books too. Let’s get started with what I hope to be reading this coming month!

Sweet Forgiveness July TBRImage from Amazon

1. Sweet Forgiveness by Lori Nelson Spielman
My mother gave me Sweet Forgiveness years ago in a care package she sent to me while I was in college. The book, written by international best-seller Lori Nelson Spielman, features a famous talk-show host, Hannah Farr, who has a hidden past. She lives in a world with Forgiveness Stones. These stones encourage people to forgive and, in turn, seek forgiveness. The story is all about how Hannah must seek forgiveness to live the life she desires. As I’m all about tightening relationships and forgiving those that have made mistakes, I think this is the perfect book to read on a sunny day at the beach.

2. Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics by Richard H. Thaler
Continuing in my efforts to learn more about finance and business in 2018, I plan on reading Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics in July. I bought it back in January after a friend recommended it, but it’s high time I read it. Written by Nobel laureate Richard H. Thaler, Misbehaving explains how humans drive the economy with their decisions. Promising to combine education and human, Misbehaving is sure to teach me a thing or two about behavioral economics.

After Alice July TBRImage from Amazon

3. After Alice by Gregory Maguire
Best known for Wicked, Gregory Maguire also wrote a twist of the classic Alice in Wonderland. After Alice follows Alice’s briefly mentioned friend Ada as she goes down the rabbit hole in an effort to bring Alice back to reality. Revisiting old friends and finding new, After Alice is sure to be an adventure of a lifetime.

4. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
I saw Love, Simon when it came out in March, and ever since I’ve wanted to read the book. Normally I read the book first, but rules are meant to be broken. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda follows a sixteen-year-old boy, Simon, who is not quite out of the closet but most definitely is very gay. He’s fallen in love with an email correspondent by the name of Blue, but to save their relationship, and his relationships with his friends, Simon is going to have to figure out a way to get comfortable with his sexuality.

This July TBR list is a little all over the place, but I think it brings some balance into my reading choices. I like to break up reading fiction, non-fiction, and young adult fiction, and I feel like this is an almost perfect list. Are there any books you plan on reading in July? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy reading,
Kimberly
