I know, second week in a row that I’m featuring a book you were probably forced to read in high school, but I promise this one is SO GOOD.

I read this the summer before my sophomore year of college, and it really hit home for me.

The book covers the importance of family, blood -elated or not, in the face of tragedy. It also portrays a unique perspective on appearance versus reality. I love the deeper look Hinton takes at family dynamics. She does a really amazing job of portraying the links between people and how water can be thicker than blood.

I love how non-traditional this book is but, in my opinion, everyone can still relate to it in some way.

I also think this is such a great book for people to read, at any age, because the writing style is so simple and easy to appreciate. It’s also a really easy read with an amazing meaning. (And we all know how much I like that!)

Also, I’ve never (and never will) ruined any endings for you, but I promise this book is worth the amazing ending. Just wait.
